Mzizima club serves hot lunch to ORCH Patients

Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Mzizima served hot lunch to 250 patients at Ocean Rd Cancer Hospital on Sunday 4 Nov ’12 served hot lunch consisting of rice and a curry with vegetables.

The club did a multiple activities that included serving lunch to 80 street children with food packets and donated TShs 100,000.00 to 4 patients who required medicines.

The lions club of Dsm Mzizima has also pledged to provide lunch to all the patients every first Friday of the month from January 2013 to December 2013.

The Club contributed a total of TShs 450,000.00 towards these activities.

PWANI CLUB IMAGINES PEACE WITH PUPILS FROM LOCAL SCHOOLS

Peace Poster Contest is practiced in Lionism and considered as the 3rd purpose in Service to Humanity. The principal idea revolves around PEACE and this year we have “Imagine Peace” as the theme. 

We all know that Dar es Salaam in English or any other language translates as Haven of Peace. So therefore Peace is embodied in Tanzanian lives as we wake up and when we go to sleep - always there is calmness. Therefore to imagine peace in an environment like ours is always fantastic and we should send this message to the world over - so that the inspirations from the children ends up in the minds and heart of adults.

This year Pwani Club carried out the contest at 3 schools that produced classic work through individual resourcefulness.

Each participating students were given Snacks, Compass and Certificate of Appreciation. The 1st winner was given TShs 10,000.00 each while the Art Teachers were given token of Appreciation.

President Lion Rafiq Ghartey praised the assistance given by all the schools in enabling this contest as well as the Convenor Lion Sara and her team for an activity successfully carried out. “When you think of peace, look at the great effort made by social organizations that enable community services and alleviate poverty through their activities’’ said the president.

MZIZIMA LIONS CARRY OUT MEGA EYE CAMP IN DODOMA

Dodoma eye camp

Venue -Regional Hospital

On the 18th of October, 12 Lions and their spouses drove to the capital city, Dodoma. to commence their eye camp activity that was officially opened by the Regional medical officer on 19th October 2012.

During the advance screening held on World Sight Day the club had recorded 36 cataract surgeries.

By 21st October, the club had accomplished 106 cataract surgeries, provided about 500 spectacles and various medicines for different eye ailments.

Lion Dr Jafferji was on his toes with the very tedious job of measuring the BP and sugar for all the patients who were supposed to be operated.

The lion members celebrated Lion Ashok's birthday on the 20th in great style at the New Dodoma hotel by singing and cutting the cake that was provided by the hotel.

Lion C.T. Shah also directed  a local choir band to better their moves on the floor and won accolades from all the people sitting in the audiences.

Lion Balraj, President Lions Club of Moshi Kibo handing over roofing sheets to Mr. John whose house was burnt down with fire and with assistance of neighbors and well wishers he managed to re-construct it. 

Lions Club of Moshi Contributed the Roofing sheets worth 750,000/= TSH. This money was donated by well wishers of Lions Club of Moshi Kibo.

Lion Neetu requests all members and well wishers to collect used clothes and shoes along with games to give at msandaka Lions Deaf Center for the Children Christmas in December.

LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE NEWS

On behalf of the Multiple Council Chairperson Lion Murtaza Dungarwalla, District Governor 411A Lion Varish Sheikh, District Governor 411B Lion Jospeh W Kiwanuka and the faculty members, I as the organizer GLT-MD Coordinator would like to once again take this opportunity to thank you for attending this Regional Lions Leadership Institute held at Sportsview Hotel, Kasarani, Nairobi from 26th to 28th October 2012. 

It is you who took the initiative to attend this very important institute and it is you the participant who made the institute a success. We did have a full house and you were one of the best participants that we have had for the Regional Institute. I am sure you must have gone with good memories and anytime you need any assistance or any information please do not hesitate to contact any one of the faculty and myself. Please convey our greetings to your own home club and your District and impart them with the knowledge through learning that you received during the intensive training you attended. If there are any shortcomings please accept sincere apologies because I as the Coordinator take all the blame. 

Once again congratulations for attending the Leadership Institute where you received certificates and your next level will be the Senior Lions Leadership Institute which time permitting you should attend at the earliest. This learning process is unique and does help one with knowledge which is useful not only for the Lions but the entire private life, community, and your own business and once again you made us proud in your attitude behavior, punctuality and participating very constructively in all the sessions.

KIBO'S APPEAL FOR ORPHANS

Kibo Club President Lion Balraj S Matharu  handed over Cheque of TShs 900,000.00  as school fees for the three orphan sisters whose parents passed away with HIV few years ago. The children are now living with their maternal uncle. This is the fourth HIV Orphan adopted by Lions Club of Moshi Kibo for secondary education.

Lion Inderjeet Singh Rehal, the Club Secretary pointed out that the club received the funds from well wishers and wishes to appeal for contribution towards this noble cause at USD 300 per child per year.
