PWANI CLUB EXTENDS ITS RAP PROGRAMME TO KIJICHI AND BWAWANI PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN TEMEKE DISTRICT

On 21st of April 2013, Pwani Club donated 600 books to benefit 2,000 pupils of Kijichi and Bwawani Primary Schools in Temeke District. The activity was an extension of Lions most revered Reading Action Programme that was carried out in presence of Teacher Blandina and 3 pupils from Aga Khan Primary School, the Principal donor of the books. The pupils were selected to read out paragraphs from the books and to ensure that the reading habit is cultivated further.

The exercise confirmed that there was a need of reading exercise in order to increase fluency and confidence.

The Headmaster Mr. Paul Njembe confirmed that the books would be stocked in their library and each pupil would be given an opportunity to borrow. At the same time  each class would carry out reading exercise on daily basis. The Chief Guest Councillor and Chairman of Temeke Education Authority Hon. Abel W. Tarimo praised the donation and remarked that the assistance has been very valuable to the school. Councillor Hon.Anderson Chale  appreciated the continued assistance from Lions Club to schools in Mtoni Kijichi and ensured that a new Library for the District would be built for the purpose of RAP.

CONVENOR LION NIMIRA SINGLES OUT LADIES FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROGRAMME IN HER EFFORT TO BOOST WOMEN MEMBERSHIP GROWTH IN TEMEKE DISTRICT

District Convenor for Women Membership Development Lion Nimira on 21st of April carried out Poverty Alleviation Pilot Project to support 10 needy ladies from Mtoni Kijichi in Temeke District.

She advised that by assisting this 10 ladies with soap powder and charcoal, they will be able to carry out petty business to make theme independent  She promised them continued support for 6 months. In turn, the ladies promised to run their petty business and report back so that they could form a group to provide the same assistance to 10 more ladies from the same area.

Lion Nimira took support of Teachers from Kijichi primary School to assist them. 

The project is in wake of extending Lionism to remote sub-urban areas where Lion Nimira could gradually get ladies who would be able to form a branch club that has a motto of helping needy ladies from their community.

IPDG PRAISES CLUBS THAT ATTENDED ZONE 10 , REGION D ZONE MEETING HELD IN TANGA

The 3rd District Governor's Advisory Committee Meeting  was held at Ras Kazone Club on 20th April 2013. This meeting was attended by IPDG Lion Satish Sharma as well as RC Lion Rizwan Qadri.

The ZC Lion Juzer Sachak beam with pride on the high level attendance and requested that clubs be motivated so that they can readily perform. Members present also requested for expedited communication flow from District Office so that they are kept well abreast of requirements. 

RC Lion Rizwan informed on the Action Plan drawn out by PID Lion Dr. Manoj Shah and requested that each club grows to register 5 new members. The clubs were also asked to attend the MD Convention to be hled in Nairobi from 2nd to 4th of May 2013.

IPDG Lion Satish appreciated the robust role of Region D Clubs and requested that they carry out joint activities. He praised the recently held Mega Health Camp that was held in Korogwe wherein Tanga. Morogoro and Kibo clubs joined hands with Pwani and Amani clubs from Dar.

MZIZIMA CLUB AND ROTARY CLUB SHARE HEARING CONCERN

POST ADVERT NOTE:

The Hearing camp started smoothly at Buguruni Deaf School in Buguruni, Malapa in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday 16 April. The camp was officially opened by the Mayor of Ilala Municipality  Hon. Jerry Slaa. 

More than 850 children's and adults were screened since the camp started and more were expected in coming 2 days.

Special hearing machine and medicines were provided free to those who who had hearing problem and other services were offered by the Doctors from United States and United Kingdom.

8 members of Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Mzizima including Region Chairman Lion Salim Sulemanji and Zone Chairman (Zone VIII) Lion Yusuf Dalal visited the camp and gave their services.

The camp is organised by Starkey Hearing Foundation of United states and Sound Seekers of United Kingdom with partnership with Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Mzizima and Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam.

The school is situated in Buguruni, Malapa behind Lake Oil Shell.

Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Mzizima has donated TShs 1,000.00.00 towards the camp.
