MY DEAR REGION, ZONE CHAIRS & CLUB PRESIDENTS,
I trust this e-mail finds you in a cheerful mood for the festive season.
I firmly believe that those people who develop the ability to continuously acquire new and better forms of knowledge that they can apply to their work and their lives will be the Movers and Shakers in society for the indefinite future.
We are all aware of the Quest Programme, which at this point in time is number one priority in our association. 'I have some anecdote which I would like to share with you.'
ACHIEVEMENT OF THE PILOT PHASE OF LIONS QUEST PROGRAM IN TANZANIA:
The steering committee has been formed to implement and promote the Quest Program.
Two local trainers have been trained to carry out training of Lions Quest in Tanzania on availability of funds either from LCI or locally at reasonable cost without using the facilities of foreign trainers, and to meet all the cost for the Quest workshops.
In five (5) workshops that have been conducted in the country namely: Dar-es-Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Tanga and Morogoro, we managed to train 160 Teachers from 80 Primary and Secondary schools and 6 lion members with the befitting arrangement and assistance of the Region & Zone chairpersons and Presidents of all the above mentioned Cities/Towns clubs.
LIONS QUEST PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION IN SCHOOL & COMMUNITIES:
The steering committee in collaboration with the lions clubs that had been given an opportunity to suggest 2 schools names (each) for the selection of teachers to be trained are responsible for coordinating, monitoring, promoting and assessing the program in those schools and submit the report of their findings to be District convenor Lion Mohamed Mulla and copy to the District Chairperson Lion Kiran Mody.
The steering committee, District convenor, District chairperson and the clubs Presidents should continue to promote the program within schools, communities and lions. They should hold promotional events to involve teachers and school administrators and explain the benefit of the program. This will make lions Quest more conducive to the teachers that were trained and take up as their program in their classrooms teaching and mentoring students.
The steering committee and the clubs should collaborate with other local organizations, Business entrepreneurs and well wishers who can donate / subsidize the cost of Quest workshops and teaching materials.
As indicated earlier we have held Quest workshops in five main Regions of Tanzania, and expect to organize more workshops to cover all the regions of Tanzania including Dar-es-Salaam once again with the local trainers to train more teachers to increase the program coverage in the country with successful dissemination of the Quest Program and wide publicity will attract the members of the community to join the clubs and support the humanitarian activities.
LIONS QUEST BOOKS FOR THE STUDENTS AND PARENTS:
We have received a good member of Lions Quest Books for the students and parents. I would advise all the participating clubs to place the order of 40 books for each participating school students and 5 books each club for the parents from District convenor Lion Mohamed Mulla. As for the Lake zone schools we have already dispatched these books to the District chairperson Lion Kiran Mody whom I would request to do the needful with the clubs in Lake Zone.
The basic ideas of working with the clubs is to involve them in learning more about the Quest Program and extend them an opportunity to mobilize the schools and communities at arousing their curiosity and create interest of awareness and its benefits.
I trust you will be the effective ambassadors in creating a positive change in behaviour of many students of your selected schools as well other neighbouring schools.

CHAIRMAN – QUEST STEERING COMMITTEE
On 25th November, Lions Club of Amani Dar es Salaam donated food stuff, juices, water, biscuits, milk, cooking-oil and clothing for adults, girls and boys. 75 orphans and 35 widows were served. Cash amount was also given to meet their electricity bills.
