God said, "No, you have another 40 years, 2 months and 8 days to live".

A middle-aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the the operating table. she had a near-death experience.

Seeing God she asked, "Is my time up?"

God said, "No, you have another 40 years, 2 months and 8 days to live".

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a facelift, liposuction and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in and change her hair colour and complete make-up.

Since she had so much time to live, she figured she might as well make the most of it.

After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.

Arriving in front of God again, she demanded, "I thought you said I had another 40 years. Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the ambulance?"

God replied, "Sorry about that, I just didn't recognise you"!

European culture, cuisine and music abound in Hamburg, a city where over 100 years of history complements a modern-day lifestyle with an international flair.  The bustling port of Hamburg, Germany's biggest harbor, is where cruise ships meet.  Stroll through the proud architecture in the old part of the city, with more than 2,300 bridges, and visit the brick-built warehouse district where still today the smell of roasted coffee and exotic spices fills the air.
Our 96th convention in Hamburg will offer lively plenary sessions in the O2 World Arena, inspiring guest speakers, the gala International Show, our International Parade of Nations along spectacular Inner Alster Lake, and the election of LCI's 2013-2014 International President.  A European Lions market right in the center of the city is also being prepared for all to see and savor.
The outstanding facilities of the Hamburg Messe und Congress will provide an ideal location for our Convention Services Center.  But it is you, the Lions of the world, who will make the Hamburg International Convention a lasting memory.
Sign up today and join us "In A World of Service" - as we gather together in friendship and service - and that is what we are all about.
See you in Hamburg!

Family Health Forums Benefit Special Olympic Athletes

Special Olympic vision screening in South Africa
When families come together to participate in a Special Olympics event, they come to celebrate their athletes. For more than 12 years, Lions Clubs International Foundation has partnered with Special Olympics through the Opening Eyes program to provide vision screenings and glasses for athletes at these events. Now, as a recent initiative of LCIF and Special Olympics, Family Health Forums help to further create a sense of community among participants. At these events, families are shown how to improve living conditions for athletes and provide better access to health care, education, social services and inclusion.
Family Health Forums began in 2011 in select communities in Africa. In October 2012, South Africa hosted the first ever Regional Family Health Forum, which brought together families with Special Olympic athletes from five countries in Africa. Here is what some of the parents had to say:

“It was excellent for me as a mother who has a child with intellectual disability. I have learned a lot, especially sharing problems with other mothers in different places. Thanks for giving my child this opportunity,” said one parent in response to the forum.
“It’s a way of changing the lives of people with intellectual disability and it makes us aware that nothing is impossible with people who have intellectual disability,” said another parent at the event.
