Pwani Club on 14th January 2013 carried out a Dental Camp at Oyster bay Primary School to honour the visit to the Club by District Governor Lion Joseph Kiwanuka and First lady of the District Lion Edith.. The camp attracted 427 pupils of the school who got the following:
- Dental screening and in-depth check;
- Counselling and lecture on dental health;
- Tooth brushing techniques;
- Provision of snacks to the children and school teachers; and
- Provision of a tooth brush and tooth paste to every participant.
District Governor Lion Kiwanuka expressed his appreciation and encouraged more of such much required assistance to government schools. He was moved by the theme "Afya Bora ni elimu bora" as coded by the Convenor Lion Pushpa Shah. President Lion Rafiq mentioned that his club was in the fore front of carrying out activities that the community required the most and assured the DG that the remaining 6 months of Lionistic Year would see more activities including an Outreach Programme - Mega Health and Reading Action Programme in Tanga Region.
The Dental Camp had 2 volunteer Dental Doctors, a Nurse and a Dental Technician to oversee proper transfer of knowledge and advice. Chemi Cotex Ltd. donated toothbrushes and tooth pastes.
Lion Rafiq presented DG with a complete record of activities that took place during the last 6 months and a Newsletter.
